Waste Acquisition and Spatial Sampling Process
What is WASSP?
Obtaining spatially significant samples from oily waste ponds or tailings ponds is often difficult at best and dangerous at worst. Radiation Professionals now deploy the WASSP, utilised to obtain 3D spatially significant samples from hard, soft, liquid, silt etc ponds without the need for costly or dangerous excursions over the tails or waste ponds.
This purpose designed, crane mounted sampling apparatus is intended for sampling of large waste and tails ponds that may not be readily accessible by other means.
Coupled with a variable depth gauge (as required) this allows samples to be taken at a variety of different locations and depths and that depth of sample to be accurately known. The satey features desigend into the system also minimise the potential of ‘punching’ through the bottom lining of a pond, tails facility etc... providing a level of environmental safety and surety of maintaining the integrity asset.
Operators can be confident of obtaining samples from a variety of matrixes with an accuracy of depth measurement allowing them to halt the movement/insertion of the sampler prior to the base of the sampler contacting the bottom or lining of the sampled location.
Question: When assessing the treatment or disposal of waste ponds or tailings, what confidence do you have that you have all of the required information to do so?
Answer: Whether to safeguard personnel or to meet regulatory compliance for safety and environmental considerations, knowing the composition of questionable materials and how they have interacted throughout your waste facility is essential.
